I kept thinking, think of the effect this corporation could have in neighborhoods where they have a presence! WOW! It would be sensational for them and communities. Let me state this corporation is big. Okay, they are substantial.

The service at very first was a partnership, however when his partners did not share his vision, he purchased them out. Rockefeller was never a gambler but constantly an organizer. He hated speculation. He was not afraid to go to banks and borrow big amounts of cash when he was sure of a deal. Revenues were continuously invested back into the service.

The more important concern is, how likely is this possibility? How many philanthropic groups have the cash or the desire to step in to save a paper? None hurried forth to do so for the defunct Seattle Post-Intelligencer or the defunct Rocky Mountain News or the going to pieces Chicago papers or the floundering Detroit documents or all the other going to pieces papers out there. Don't depend on this happening.
If the Trustees declare that it is for the benefit of any local company corporate philanthropy you might call them and verify the claim of solicitation. Determine the portion of your contribution that goes for administrative purposes and just how much in fact chooses the charity.
